Clowning Around!

Session 3 of Summer Reading had 1st-4th graders clowning around. The book Sandy’s Circus was read, which is about artist Alexander Calder and his travelling wire circus. Students then made their own works of art with beads, wire, and clay.

Summer Reading Session 2

Students had a great time during our 2nd session of Summer Reading!

PreK/Kindergarten learned about trash trucks.

Pre-K and Kindergarten students monkeyed around during the first session of the Summer Reading Program. Faye Smith read two books, and provided a monkey craft. Then students swung outside to jump across a board and taste fresh coconut and bananas.

Summer Reading Is Off to a Great Start!

Children in first through fourth grades participated in the first session of the Summer Reading Program on Wednesday, June 1. Paul Toon spoke to students about bike safety, then students participated in a bike rodeo. Yee-haw!

Activities included:

  • Following a figure eight, zigzag, and spiral pattern on their bikes
  • A slow race where two friends “raced” to see who was slowest
  • A newspaper toss where riders tried to toss a paper in a laundry basket

Super Saturday Wrap Up

We had a blast bowling for bad guys, crawling through tunnels, leaping through lasers, and making our own shields and masks during our Super Saturday Family Reading Day.

It’s a bird! It’s a plane! No, it’s a book!

Celebrate Reading Super-style during this Family Reading Event where we will:

  • knock down villains
  • test your abilities with an obstacle course
  • see if you have X-ray vision
  • take a picture of you flying over a cityscape
  • read super books

Activities are self-guided so come and go as you can between 10:00-11:30. This event is flexible for all ages.
